ALL FOR THE MOOLAH There's no stopping to it (politics)
IT IS A MISERABLE BUSINESS. But people are glued to it like leech on a skin. Although there’s drama, there’s entertainment even, not to mention the money and the connections involved, and the prestige that goes with it, politics, as always, comes as a fix to those who are power seekers.

Not that I lost faith on it, I just can’t escape from its shadow. I mean, literally, there’s politics everywhere. At school, in the workplace, on TV, inside a barber shop, and even outside your godamn door, there’s no escaping from it.

I have abandoned politics more than a decade ago because it promises nothing. The only thing good about politics is that it sweetens a potentially sensitive issue; it has all the shots to desensitize a serious cut and turn it into an insignificant scar. Other than that, it delays practically every aspect of development we know of. Not that there’s something wrong with its system, it’s just that those who are mandated to secure it aren’t returning the favor at all. I hate it.

I am one of those who are sick and tired of its tirades. But because this is all “democracy” and shit, I’ll just have to grin and bear it like the rest of us (even if it's detrimental to my health at times). I don’t know of any other options on how to treat or accept politics as it is, because no matter how religious, no matter how fundamental, staunched, this politician might be to his mandate or “calling”, sooner or later he’ll be eating this system straight up, whether he likes it or not.

The best alternative I guess when dealing with politics is to undermine it. If you can, that is. If you treat it as a means of expediting a particular issue, then you’d be surprised how easy it can be. It is only when people treat it as a prerequisite to acquiring more (power, fame, money), that it becomes problematic. I doubt if those pioneers of political thought are appreciative of the way our contemporary politicos run the show. Somehow it runs counter to the principles that these political gatekeepers had elucidated.

I have had enough of it. I do hope, though, that if they put up a show right in front of their constituents, they better backed it up with something sustainable (and with sense, for Christ sake). It doesn’t have to be something grandiose either, but enough to deliver the goods somehow. If not, it bankrupts everything we hold dear.
